Mid-Section Method — Software

This page allows users to download hydroacoustics software and firmware used with instruments for making discharge measurements with the mid-section method. Links are provided primarily as a service for USGS users. However, in some cases, access has also been provided for other agencies, with the manufacturer's permission.

USGS users should also note that these links provide access to the software and firmware that the OSW recommends. In some cases, the version of the software provided here may not be the latest software available from the manufacturer. This is either because the latest software has not been tested by the OSW or because it has a known problem.

IMPORTANT: Beginning with the versions listed here, several of our programs were updated in support of Microsoft Vista. If you use any of the following programs, you MUST update all of them at the same time. You only need to update those files you use with your system.

FlowTracker

FlowTracker Firmware 3.4 — This firmware update for FlowTrackers is only available directly from SonTek/YSI and is not compatible with all FlowTrackers.

Flowtracker v2.11[Access Restricted] — FlowTracker Windows-based software package contains utility programs for SonTek's FlowTracker Handheld ADV. These programs can be used to perform diagnostics, download data from the internal recorder, review data, generate reports, export data as ASCII files. Note: If you have a version of FlowTracker earlier than v1.20, you must first uninstall the "old" version of FlowTracker before installing version 2.11.

Flowtracker v2.20 [Access Restricted] — FlowTracker Windows-based software package contains utility programs for SonTek's FlowTracker Handheld ADV. SonUtils for Pocket PC V1.24 (Windows CE) (20May2002) [Access Restricted] — SonTek utility programs for use with a PDA that uses the Pocket PC (Windows CE) operating system. This program can be used to run beam checks and download binary (.wad) files from the FlowTracker

SonUtils v4.00 (08Feb2006) [Access Restricted] — Windows-based utility programs for "talking" directly to SonTek/YSI instruments. This program is needed for FlowTracker firmware upgrades.

SonUtils v4.20 (05Jul07) [Access Restricted] — Vista compatible Windows-based utility programs for "talking" directly to SonTek/YSI instruments. This program is needed for FlowTracker firmware upgrades.

RiverSurveyor

RiverSurveyor Firmware — Firmware for RiverSurveyors must be obtained directly from SonTek/YSI.

RiverSurveyor 1.05a [Access Restricted] — Windows-based stationary measurement real-time and post processing software designed for use RiverSurveyor systems for making mid-section discharge measurements. A software license is required to run this program. To purchase a license contact SonTek/YSI. RiverSurveyor stationary software has not been fully tested by USGS OSW. StreamPro Software v3.20 (16Mar06) [Access Restricted] — Discharge data collection and processing software for the StreamPro. This software includes both the moving-boat method and the section by section method. A license for the section-by-section method must be purchased separately to activate those features. The Section-by-section software for the StreamPro has not been fully tested by the USGS OSW.

StreamPro Firmware v31.04 (05Oct05) [Access Restricted] — This firmware version contains the low-noise mode. The low-noise mode has not been fully tested by the USGS OSW. If problems are biases are observed using the low-noise model please contact Mike Rehmel.

USGS Software

DatView Version 1.00 (Jan2007) — USGS program developed to assist users of SonTek/YSI FlowTrackers in reviewing discharge measurements. The software provides for a quick visual review and highlights data that contains possible quality issues.
